Winter has barely graced our lives with its white and silver scenery. Cold blue skies and brilliantly dazling sun that reflects back off the snow-covered fields. Frostbitten trees sometimes popping and banging in the crisp clear air. Temperatures that make one think the mercury has gone down around to the backside of the thermometer. Probably trying to get warm. Snow crunches and squeaks as one walks out into the night. There is an awsome silence. Stars are clear making one think of "the star" that led the wisemen. It could have been a night this clear. My husband hands me the rifle and he takes up his. Midnight! The guns are pointed to the fields to the sky. Flashing the bullets ring out into the night. We stand and listen to the sound. It rolls and rolls over the fields, over the river and the trees out into the night. Travelling~~ we look at each other ~~its 2009!! We laugh and try to find the pup that lit out to hide when her night got shattered. And now here it is the beginning of the morning of the first day of the New Year. What do you think I am thinking of in all this winter beauty and fine clean crisp air? Seeds!! Gardening!
Okay I will admit that I too am not sure whether to be jubilant, enthusiastic, scared spitless, or overly cautious about the year to come. But nonetheless it is here and I know of nothing else but to continue on Praising My LORD, trusting Him, and going about my day one day at a time.
So as I ponder what kind of seeds to buy and grow this year. How much to plant and chickens and pigs etc. I will enjoy my silvery Christmas card like scenery. The bliz
zards, the gentle falling snows, the deep cold, the dwindling woodpile, the sump pump pumping the water from our basement, the cats that sit on the window sill vascillating between soaking up sun rays and begging to be let in, dogs with icy feet, cows and horses with a layer of frost and snow on their backs, vehicles that groan at being started, driveways that are newly plowed, snowshoes and cross-country skiis even the odd skidoo. The warmth of the kitchen being my favourite place in the house. Winter has a long visit with us yet ~~as I search for seed catalogues and think of garden plans~~

Do not fret because of evildoers,
Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity.
For they shall soon be cut down like the grass,
and wither as the green herb.
Trust in the LORD, and do good:
Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
Deligh
t youself also in the LORD,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the LORD,
Trust also in Him,
And He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light,
And your justice as the noonday.
Psalm 37:1-6

Happy
New Year to all

Hi Roxanne,
Thanks for stopping over at my blog :) I use to read yours quite often when I was blogging on homestead. I wasn't sure until I saw the pictures of the puppy. He sure is pretty :)

I'm glad you had a good time on New Years Eve with your husband. We've been discussing the garden ourselves. I think that once the holidays have ended, we start looking forward to spring a whole lot more.

That's an excellent Psalm for the new year.

Have a blessed New Year Roxanne :)
